We begin with the mark against: the negative. We follow through with the positivity negated and then, to the contrary, the affirmation of the negation. Sounds like we’re getting ready for dialectics. But the mark against has by this time broken free of its associations, its for and against, and a logic of the third kind is born: the strange new logic of love.
